Schwerin cyclist on an adventure trip to Vaasa - 1,400 km to Finland!
Schwerin, Deutschland - On July 5, 2025, seven cyclists from Schwerin "on the saddles, ready, go!" The group, consisting of five men and two women, sets off to the Finnish twin town of Vaasa and has chosen an impressive route of around 1,400 kilometers. This journey, which is created for around three weeks and lasts until July 21, 2025, leads it directly to Finland via Sweden, with an important stop in Växjö.
The prospective adventurers are part of a bike tour organized by the ADFC, which is led by Roberto Koschmidder. This Initiative is not only supported by the city of Schwerin, but also by the local Sparkassenstiftung. As a result, overnight stays in hotels could be organized and two night ferries were booked to Sweden and Finland. Each participant also makes a contribution to the travel fund, which makes the whole thing into a shared undertaking.
a greeting from Schwerin
Mayor Rico Badenschier (SPD) not only sends the cycling ambassadors his best wishes, but also personally wrote two letters to accompany them on their trip. "It is important that we strengthen and live our municipal partnerships," emphasizes Badenschier while emphasizing the importance of such initiatives.
The group plans to enjoy the Scandinavian landscape to the fullest and to have encounters in the partner cities. Ralf Klein, chairman of the ADFC regional group Schwerin, also wanted to participate, but has to fit due to an accident. However, he plans to be there again in 2026.

The initiative shows how important cycling is not only for your own fitness, but also for the promotion of municipal connections. And as the ADFC advises on its website, cyclists should always act carefully and drive forward to being safe.
With the upcoming campaign, the cyclists will surely collect unforgettable impressions and experience the perspectives of their twin city from a completely different perspective. So the message is not only put into words, but also transported alive on two wheels.
