Gotha appreciates artists: Hannah Höch ceremony 2025 in prospect!
A very special tradition is continued in Gotha: the "Hannah Höch-Mär". Since 2008, the city of Gotha has been devoting itself to the artistic work of women born in Gotha or living there. The honor takes place annually on November 1, the birthday of the city's most famous daughter, Hannah Höch. It is an event that combines art and culture and puts the achievements of female artists of all genres into the spotlight. The focus is not only on the awareness, but also the work of less well -known talents that have great potential.
Each: R can submit suggestions for the honor. The submissions should arrive at the Gotha city administration by September 15, 2025 at the latest. The documents need the name and address of the proposed artist as well as a brief justification for the nomination. An expert: Interior jury, led by Kerstin Tornow, the city's equality officer, then selects the artist to be honored from the suggestions. If you have any questions, interested parties can contact Ms. Tornow.
a piece of history: Beate Aé Karguth
The "Hannah Höch-Merver" also recognized the designer Beate Aé Karguth, who received the award in 2018. Karguth, who was born in Wurzen and lives in Gotha, studied shape design at the renowned Giebichenstein Castle and is a driving force in the Gotha art scene. Among the numerous projects that she initiated, the permanent exhibition "Thuringian Forest - Nature staged" stands out in the museum of nature, which was opened in 2001.
In addition, she left her handwriting in several successful exhibitions, such as the special exhibition "Bionik - From the Ursaurier to the ongoing robot" in 2006. Her active role in the MuseumSlöwen e. V. and the organization of a museum exchange between Gotha and the American partner city of Gastonia are remarkable. Her commitment shows how deeply rooted it is in the city.
Cultural highlight in November
The "Hannah Höch ceremony" is not only an award, but also a cultural highlight for Gotha and attracts people interested in art and culture. The event is musically accompanied by the talented Annika von Trier, who creates the right mood with her sounds. The honor is firmly anchored in the city's cultural calendar and offers a platform to celebrate the diverse talents of women who play an important role in Gotha.
We look forward to numerous submissions and an exciting event in November when it says again to appreciate the art in all its facets. Be there and bring your suggestions!
