The anniversary is not only important for Schmeheim, but can also draw teachings from similar celebrations in other regions. For example, an anniversary celebration was held in Holzkirchen under the motto "1111 years of Holzkirchen", which went over three days and attracted almost 5000 visitors a day. Despite a rainy opening evening, the event committee was able to record an impressive number of participants, which shows how strong the cohesion in the community is.
