ADAC reveals traffic jam strategies: How to get out of your vacation stress-free!

Summer is soon coming to an end and with it the holiday season for many Cologne residents. A look at the streets already shows what travelers are currently expecting: returning from vacation is often associated with traffic jams, especially on the weekends. The summer holidays are almost over in eight of sixteen federal states, and the ADAC has made clear recommendations to make the journey home easier. According to merkur.de, on classic return travel days like Saturday, traffic jams often start from early morning until late afternoon.

The experts advise travelers to leave on Saturday if possible before 8 a.m. or in the late evening hours between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. If you are traveling on Sunday, you should avoid lunchtime, as traffic volume increases significantly from 1 p.m. After 5 p.m. the streets generally become more relaxed again. To avoid delays and stress, you should choose a suitable day of the week for your return trip when planning your vacation. The best choice is Tuesday or Wednesday, as traffic volume is generally lower on these days.

Current traffic situation in Cologne

There is now specific traffic information to consider, especially for those returning from Cologne. A construction site on the A559 in the direction of Cologne-Porz will cause additional problems in the coming week. The carriageway between Kreuz K-Gremberg and Cologne-Gremberghoven will be closed from August 22, 2025, 8:00 p.m. to August 25, 2025, 5:00 a.m. Diversions have been put in place and it is advisable to avoid the construction site.

Pete Carroll and his successes in sports

Aside from traffic and holiday planning, sport also has a lot to offer during this time. Another interesting aspect is the sports history of Pete Carroll, currently the new head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders, who will now direct the team's fortunes. Carroll, who has already had an impressive career, was hired as the Raiders' coach on January 25, 2025.

He will be the oldest head coach in NFL history in his first game, showing that experience is always in demand. After a long career spanning from his beginnings in the college coaching world to his success in the NFL, he brings immense knowledge and tactics to the game. His feedback and views on current season preparations will certainly be of great interest to all sports fans.

So stay informed, both about traffic on the roads and about exciting developments in sport! This means that the journey home from vacation is not only stress-free, but also with a lot of inspiration for the coming weeks.
