Train chaos in Thuringia: Up to 105 minutes delay for ICE drivers!

A number of changes to rail transport are now coming! Today, August 14, 2025, passengers on the ICE connections between Erfurt and Munich must expect significant disruptions MDR Thuringia reported. The reason for the changes is extensive construction work, which will impact many important connections.

The ICE lines from Berlin to Munich and from Hamburg to Munich are particularly affected. During construction, passengers should expect diversions that could result in approximately 105 minutes of additional travel time. At least hourly direct connections are still planned for travelers from Nuremberg to Munich, while from Munich and Nuremberg to Berlin there will be at least two-hourly direct connections. While that sounds like a challenge, there are bright spots for the patient travelers.

Affected stops

The construction work means that several stops will be completely eliminated. The affected stations include:

  • Erlangen
  • Bamberg
  • Coburg
  • Kronach
  • Ludwigsstadt
  • Rudolstadt
  • Weißenfels

The stops in Augsburg and Würzburg are available as replacements. In addition, train traffic will be reduced at a number of other stations, including Munich Central Station, Nuremberg and Halle (Saale). Travelers should therefore definitely inform themselves in advance about the current departure times and possible diversions.

Additional support

Users of online learning platforms in particular can use special support, such as current information on the Microsoft website ( trainingsupport.microsoft ). Valuable resources are offered there for frequently asked questions, which is particularly important for anyone who needs support during the current situation.

The construction work will continue for some time, but those responsible are trying to make the situation as pleasant as possible. If you start your trip with a good plan, you can still get a lot out of your trip and perhaps even use the time on the train to work with the learning material on the Microsoft platform. This turns what was supposed to be a waiting period into a productive phase!

For all road users: keep your eyes open and stay informed! Stay creative and use your time wisely, because life always offers an opportunity to combine fun and challenge!
