Career fair TUCCONNECT: A recipe for success for Chemnitz students
Technische Universität Chemnitz, 09126 Chemnitz, Deutschland - On May 22, 2025, the "Tucconnect Spring" career fair took place at the Technical University of Chemnitz. The event was organized by the Career Service team of the TU Chemnitz and served as a platform for students to find out about professional and internship opportunities. Around 70 regional and national exhibitors from various industries were represented, which made the fair an important event for securing skilled workers in the region. The offers such as free application photos and job walls with current job advertisements also met with great interest.
From 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., the students were able to call up a lot of information on topics such as professional entry opportunities and theses. Maria Alexander, project coordinator of the Welcome Center Chemnitz, noticed the great motivation of international students to gain a foothold in the regional labor market. Over 30 percent of students at Chemnitz University of Technology come from abroad, which particularly underlines the relevance of such events.
Various offers for students
Apart from the numerous exhibitors, there was also a varied lecture program. Five lectures dealt with sustainable career prospects and valuable tips for application documents. Maximilian Noack from the BPG Building Monitoring and Project Taxation MBH praised the fair as a valuable opportunity for the exchange with the students, while Sophie Oelsch from the organization team emphasized the success of the event despite the lower number of exhibitors compared to previous years.
The next Tucconnect is already planned for November 12, 2025. Until then, the Career Service is available to students and graduates for questions about starting their career.
international students in focus
The challenge for international students to find a job in Germany is increasingly addressed. A new DAAD program called FIT (promotion of international talents for integration in the studies and labor market) was launched in April 2024 to support German universities in this area. The program is financed as part of the "Campus Initiative International Specialists" by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research
.
This program comprises 89 funded projects that focus on the support of international students throughout their “Student Life Cycle”. This includes not only the preparation for study, but also offers for social and professional integration as well as support in the career. This ensures that the challenges that international students face can effectively address.
Overall, events such as the TUCCONNECT and initiatives such as the DAAD program are fit to promote the integration of international students into the German labor market. Such measures not only contribute to the personal development of the students, but also to strengthen the regional and national economy.
