A67 in turmoil: Two rear -end collisions provide hours -long blocking!

On Sunday afternoon (June 1st) there was a spectacular rear -end collision with four vehicles on the A67 after the Lorsch junction towards Darmstadt. The traffic drew at 11:55 a.m. when a 39-year-old driver from Heidelberg had to brake abruptly. This meant that three other drivers from the Rhein-Neckar-Kreis, Karlsruhe and Hamburg also had to brake or avoid, causing the vehicles to collapse. Fortunately, this crash remained without injuries, but the traffic was severely hindered: the two lanes had to be blocked and traffic was led over the hard shoulder. The damage is estimated at around 45,000 euros.

Only shortly afterwards, around 12:40 p.m., another impact occurred at the end of the traffic jam: a tractor -trailer from the Alzey district raced into a caravan team from the Bergstrasse district. There were no injuries here either, but the debris distributed themselves across all lanes, which led to a full closure of the highway to the Lorsch junction - for a full 3.5 hours! The fire brigade and emergency services were on site to support, and the Mannheim motorway master's house took care of cleaning. The property damage of this second incident is estimated at around 40,000 euros.
