Attention, fraud! 73-year-old from mother city almost victims fake Microsoft employees
Mutterstadt, Deutschland - A 73-year-old man from Motherstadt was victim to a refined computer fraud when he received an ominous security warning on his PC on June 6, 2025. A call to a specified telephone number led him to the catch of a wrong Microsoft employee who persuaded him in a two-hour conversation to grant remote access to his computer. The fraudster then asked for the senior to log in to his online banking and buy several Apple voucher cards in order to allegedly pay for software services.
Fortunately, the man managed to take suspicion in time and to cancel the conversation before he may have suffered financial damage. The police warn of such frauds and give helpful tips to protect themselves: Serious companies do not contact their customers without being asked, and personal data should never be passed on to unknown callers. If you suspect fraud, victims should inform the police immediately and check their online security.Details | |
