Attention before shock calls: fraudsters are up to mischief in Emsland!

Emsbüren, Deutschland - once more, fraudsters strike in the Emsland and in the county of Bentheim: Under the pretext of being police officers, they carry out unscrupulous "shock calls" to bring older people to get their money and valuable jewelry. In two current cases from Emsbüren and Nordhorn, pressure was tirelessly built up to convince the victims that they had to pay high deposits to save relatives from a supposed emergency. While the callers claimed in one case that a close relative was involved in a serious traffic accident, they stated in the other case that burglars were up to mischief in the neighborhood and needed help to bring cash to safety.

The police urgently advise caution: Stop immediately when calling suspects and critically question such claims! A perpetrator in Nordhorn is about 35 years old, slim and with short blonde hair-he was in a white T-shirt and sneakers. Notes on possible witnesses or suspicious observations, especially on May 25th and 26th, are very welcome. Secure yourself and your relatives - every hint could help!
