In a drastic use, the police carried out comprehensive traffic controls between Friday and Monday to ensure traffic safety during the Pentecost weekend. Supported by officials from Lower Saxony and Saxony, the emergency services placed particular emphasis on the driving ability of road users.

The results were alarming: a 34-year-old Romanian driver was stopped with an unprecedented breath alcohol value of 3.04 per thousand. There was also a questionable trend in drug use, since numerous drivers were under the influence of THC and mixed drugs. Despite these worrying values, the police take a positive balance - the majority of the controlled drivers wereworthy, and the controls met with mostly positive response among the population.
