Automatic fire alarm system saves the amusement park from worse!

On May 29, 2025, the Kalkar volunteer fire brigade moved out for the fourth assignment within just three days. At 6:00 a.m., the extinguishing groups Wissel and Grieth were alerted after an automatically triggered fire alarm system in the Wisseler See amusement park made an alarm. On site, the emergency services discovered a significant smoke in the kitchen and in the adjacent restaurant.

A respiratory protection squad found that burned food in a gastric tank was the cause. The container was brought outside and extinguished there. After comprehensive control and ventilation measures, the use under the direction of fire inspector Henning Ludwig could be ended after about an hour. In the past few days, the Kalkar fire brigade had already been called for further operations for a fire alarm, assistance on the Rhine and a traffic accident.
