Excavator ship stuck to Niederwerth - successful liberation!

In the afternoon, there was a dramatic incident on the Rhine: an excavator ship arrived at the southern tip of the island of Niederwerth around 1:35 p.m. The ship, on the way upstream, was influenced so much by the current that it was ultimately due to the rear. To free the ship, a tow had to be requested.

at 5:45 p.m. A shear association arrived at the scene of the accident and preparations for towing were made. The towing connection was made at 7:30 p.m., and finally at 7:57 p.m. in the second attempt to successfully free the dredging ship. Fortunately, no damage to property occurred, and shipping remained unaffected.
