Fraud in the Rhein-Sieg district: Senior loses 10,000 euros to phone fraudsters!

On Tuesday, June 10th, a 77-year-old man from Niederkassel reported a criminal incident to the police who cost him almost 10,000 euros. The previous day, the senior received a call from a supposed bank employee who deceived him with fraudulent information. The caller brought the man to transfer his money over two transfers of almost 5,000 euros each.

This perfidious stitch is called Call-ID Spoofing, with the perpetrators use the wrong telephone number to bring trust. After the advertisement, the injured party was informed about the background of this fraud method. The criminal police of the Rhein-Sieg district has started the investigation. The police warn: be suspicious of unknown callers! Do not give sensitive information on the phone and verify directly from your bank.
