On Thursday, May 29, 2025, officials from the Ahlhorn motorway police stopped a heavily alcoholic driver on the Autobahn 29. Around 5:45 p.m., the driver of a small car, which exceeded the speed limit of 80 km/h by a whopping 53 km/h, was pursued by the police. Despite repeated requests, the 26-year-old from Oldenburg did not stop and was only checked in a parking lot shortly after the Ahlhorn junction.

The smell of alcohol was overwhelming and a breath alcohol test resulted in the alarming value of 1.53 per thousand. The police have initiated the investigation and will take appropriate legal steps against the driver. This incident again underlines the dangers of alcohol consumption at the wheel.
