Dettingen an der Iller, Deutschland - A 39-year-old BMW driver experienced a dramatic incident on the A7 to the south. At 8:15 p.m. she noticed smoke from the exhaust and engine compartment while she was on the highway. Shortly afterwards, at the exit Dettingen/Iller, she parked her vehicle on the L299 and got to safety before her BMW went up in flames.

The fire brigades from Dettingen and Erolzheim were quickly on hand and extinguished the fire, but the BMW burned out completely. Nobody was injured, but the property damage amounts to around 8,000 euros. The cause of the fire, possibly a technical defect, is currently still unclear. The strong heat also had an impact on the lane ceiling and a guardrail, the damage of which must now be determined.
