Roofing fire in Delmenhorst: Technical defect causes 70,000 euros in damage

in Delmenhorst, a devastating roofing fire in Mühlenstraße at around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. A 49-year-old house resident found out when working in the attic that the battery of his tool had to be charged. As he went to the ground floor, he suddenly noticed smoke that rose from the roof. He immediately alerted his wife and in the meantime firefighters, who happened to be on the way back from a traffic accident, rang at the door.

The Delmenhorst volunteer fire brigade and the professional fire brigade were quickly mobilized in order to evacuate the residents of the adjacent area and to fight the fire. The flames not only damaged the affected row house, but also the roof of a neighboring house, which led to estimated total damage of around 70,000 euros. The row house affected by the fire is currently uninhabitable. The investigation into the exact cause of the fire is running, a technical defect in the battery or charger is the most likely cause.
