Drama in Cologne-Porz: Keller fire in the high-rise provides patients!

On Wednesday, June 4, 2025, a basement fire broke out in a high-rise building in Cologne-Porz at 3:26 p.m. The Cologne fire brigade was alerted and found a fire in a winding basement of around 30 square meters. A male resident who was at the side of the emergency services suffered flue gas poisoning and was taken to the hospital. Fortunately, there were no other injuries.

The fighting of the fire turned out to be challenging because the smoke spread quickly through the exhaust air and the narrow circumstances. After about 40 minutes, the emergency services managed to control the fire. During the measures, the adjacent areas were checked for flue gases because the smoke was pulled to the corridors and the foyer of the ground floor. Finally, all residents were able to return to their apartments. A total of around 75 firefighters and 21 vehicles were used, directed by the fire department.
