A shocking accident occurred yesterday at Friedrich-Ebert-Platz in Düren when a 15-year-old E-scooter driver was involved in a collision with a car. The youngsters, which drove on the sidewalk in contrast, suddenly turned onto the pedestrian crossing towards Kölnstraße. The 83-year-old driver from Niederzier could no longer prevent a collision because of the high speed of the e-scooter.

The collision led to injuries to the 15-year-olds who were immediately taken to a hospital. While the minimum age for e-scooter users is 14 years, you must also comply with the same alcohol limit values ​​as drivers. Driving on sidewalks and in pedestrian zones is strictly prohibited, as is the transport of narcotics. Another alarm: E-scooter are only approved for one person-a rule that apparently has not been observed!
