On Tuesday evening, a shocking traffic accident occurred on Trier Strasse in Düren, in which an e-scooter driver was slightly injured. The 22-year-old man collided with a slowly moving car when he turned into Novalisstrasse. The collision happened around 6:21 p.m. and led to property damage of around 4,700 euros.

The police revealed several traffic violations during the accident recording: the e-scooter was not insured and the driver had no valid driving license. He stated that he was on the road with an alarming 40 km/h. In addition, traces and testimonies indicate a possible technical manipulation of the scooter. The police have initiated criminal proceedings for driving without a license and violations of the compulsory insurance law. The investigation is still underway.
