Esterwegen: toxic canister discovered - fire brigade stepped in!
The police inspection Emsland/Grafschaft Bentheim has published the results of the analysis of 44 canisters, which were discovered on May 13 in a tracee to the Ohe river in Esterwegen. A private specialist laboratory in Bremen has found that there is chloric monitoring or a similar product - a potentially dangerous mixture of chlorine, carbon and oxygen, which is often used as a binder in colors and varnishes.
The alarmed anglers had discovered the unknown canister, whereupon the fire brigade started recovering together with the district of Emsland and the police. The canisters are now safely kept in a disposal company and are to be professionally destroyed under strict requirements in order to protect the environment and the public.
