Solemn boat baptism: New WSP 21 strengthens water protection in NRW

The water protection police in Münster has a new, impressive operations boat - the "WSP 21". With a length of 13.86 meters, a weight of 13.4 tons and two 350 hp engines, it reaches speeds of up to 45 km/h. This impressive “floating guard” will patrol the waters in North Rhine-Westphalia, including the EMS, the Mittelland Canal and the Dortmund-Ems Canal.

The boat was ceremoniously baptized on May 27th in Germany's only police yard. Mona Neubaur, the Minister of Economics, Industry, Climate Protection and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, took over the sponsorship. Herbert Reul, the Minister of the Interior, and Alexander Dierselhuis, the police chief of Duisburg also appeared for the ceremony. Dierselhuis emphasized the importance of modern technology and the essential interaction of the emergency services that the new boat will use for security and protection. The "WSP 21" replaces a 37 -year -old patrol boat and is actively used for ship accidents, controls and rescue operations.
