Fire brigade Bremerhaven saves howler: young seal in safety!

Deichpromenade, 27568 Bremerhaven, Deutschland - A young seal called the Bremerhaven fire brigade on June 6, 2025! At 8:15 a.m., the fire brigade was alerted to an animal rescue operation on the dike promenade after attentive employees of the Bremerhaven waste disposal companies discovered the animal. The little howler was strayed from the water towards the dike and was in a potentially dangerous situation.

The emergency services of Thorbenh Achillis and Andreas Ittner reacted quickly and carefully recorded the seal in a special transport box. Fortunately, Mild was in good general condition and showed no visible injuries. After the safe transport to the central fire station, the animal was handed over to Rüdiger Gimber from the Norddeich seal station, which will take care of further care. The fire brigade points out that howler appears helpless, but often only left them alone while the mother animal is hunting. It is advisable to keep your distance and, if in doubt, to inform the responsible bodies.
