Fall attacks in Wermelskirchen: Police are looking for witnesses for night drama!

In the night of Saturday, June 7th, several arson attacks broke out on apartment buildings in downtown Wermelskirchen, which were presumably laid by unknown people. The fire brigade had to evacuate around 40 residents, ten people suffered injuries and had to be brought to hospitals. Now the affected buildings are empty and uninhabitable. The Cologne police have set up a murder commission in view of the suspected murder and calls for the help of the population.

The fires occurred in Friedrichstrasse at 3:50 a.m., followed by the Oberen Waldstraße at 4:40 a.m. and Telegrafenstrasse at 6:40 a.m. Fortunately, another cellar fire in Telegrafenstrasse was without injuries. A witness reported two suspicious men on an e-scooter who may be connected to the fires. The police are urgently looking for witnesses who have information about suspicious people or vehicles near the affected streets. Information can be directed to the Cologne police on 0221 229-0 or by email to poststelle.koeln@polizei.nrw.de. The investigation is in full swing.
