Hamburg, Deutschland - The Hamburg fire brigade managed a total of 334,630 missions in 2024, which corresponds to a slight decline of 0.5 percent compared to the previous year. This is reported by interior senator Andy Grote, fire chief Jörg Sauermann and the state area leader of the volunteer fire brigade, Harald Burghart, when the annual balance sheet was presented. Particularly gratifying: The number of brand deaths sank to a historical low of seven people, compared to ten in 2023. A success that is also due to the high importance of functioning smoke alarms.

In order to communicate the emergency numbers more clearly, the Hamburg fire brigade started a campaign that advertises the medical on -call service under number 116117. In addition, the number of alarms from the volunteer fire brigade rose by more than 10 percent, with 2,742 members being active. The fire brigade is strongly in the expansion of its infrastructure and has invested in the modernization of devices and the expansion of the academy. Fire chief Sauermann emphasizes the high performance of the fire brigade and their tireless efforts for the security of the citizens.
