On May 26, 2025 at 10:27 p.m., the Wipperfürth fire brigade was alerted to a drastic warehouse fire in the old paper mill. Employees of an industrial company reported a fiery emergency that immediately required a large contingent of emergency services. Already during the journey there was a massive smoke development and a large flame strike, which led to "Brand 4 buildings" to increase the operational word.

Overall, almost all units of the Wipperfürth fire brigade were mobilized, while the extinguishing groups ensured Klaswipper and Thier's basic protection in the city. Support came from the neighboring fire brigade Hückeswagen and the Oberberg district, which were on site with additional forces. Thanks to the quick and coordinated intervention of everyone involved, the situation could be brought under control.
