Leverkusen sends fire engines to Ukraine for help!
Leverkusen, Deutschland - Leverkusen has again set a strong sign of solidarity with Ukraine! Today, together with the fire brigade Leverkusen, the city handed over several fire engines to the Blau-Gelbes Kreuz association, including a team transport vehicle and several fire trucks and motorcycles, will be delivered to the Dnipropetrovsk Oblast next week and are to be used in Leverkusen's partner city of Nikopol. Mayor Uwe Richrath emphasized the urgency of support in view of the continuing Russian attacks on Ukraine.
The Blau-Gelbe Kreuz, whose CEO Linda Mai received the vehicles, received financial support from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia for the acquisition. "We are very grateful for the continued help from Leverkusen," said Mai. The partnership between Leverkusen and Nicopol, sealed in March 2023, is further consolidated by these actions after Nicopol has already suffered serious attacks in the past. The city of Leverkusen remains committed to continuing its support for Ukraine and relieving the humanitarian crisis on site.
