On Monday afternoon, May 26, 2025, there was a dramatic incident on Aschauer Strasse in Munich: a truck tore down the tram. These crashed into the street and damaged several vehicles parked there. It became particularly difficult for two inmates of a smart, which were caught in their car, as the power lines fell on their car made it impossible to escape.

The Munich fire brigade had to be alerted to get the situation under control. Only after the power supply has been switched off and the determination of the voltage freedom could the two people be safely released from their vehicle. The trams in Munich are operated with a dangerous voltage of 750 volts, which significantly increases the danger in such situations.
