Rescue on Schluchsee: Drunk man saved in rubber boat!

On Saturday, May 24th, 2025, the police were alerted at 6:40 p.m. when a small rubber boat was discovered on the Schluchsee, in which a motionless man was sitting. The boat drove near a hotel in the southeastern part of the lake. Rescue workers quickly found that the 50-year-old was heavily alcoholic and apparently disoriented.

The rescue of the man from the bank was not possible due to the local conditions. Therefore, the Schluchsee fire brigade used a lifeboat to get it safely to the shore. During the rescue operation, the man threatened to fall out of the boat several times. When they arrived on the bank, a breath alcohol test resulted in a value of just under 3 per thousand. Due to his condition-related helplessness, the on-call judge of the Freiburg District Court ordered the protective custody, so that the man was housed in the custody rooms of the Titisee-Neustadt police station.
