Sturmchaos in Ulm: 500,000 euros damage, but no tornado confirmed!
In the night of Thursday, June 5, 2025, there was a violent storm in Ulm and the Alb-Donau district, which caused serious damage. According to the DWD Stuttgart, a tornado is excluded as the cause. A meteorologist expressed skepticism compared to tornado theory, while further tests of the weather are currently underway. In the Donaustetten district in particular, roofs were covered by several row houses, so that some buildings are no longer habitable. Fortunately, the fire brigade did not report any injuries.
The damage caused by violent heavy rain, hurricane -like wind gusts and hail are considerable. An entire towing roof was torn down by the strong winds, and the estimated financial losses in Donaustetten amount to around 500,000 euros. The highest gust of wind was registered in Laupheim at 83 km/h. The storm developed between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. when a thunderstorm formed from Allgäu to the Ostalb.

The weather conditions remain with regard to the risk of storm by the ongoing monitoring of the Storm Center in view.
