Tragic accident on the L05: transporter driver dies after impact

L05, 19243 Wittenburg, Deutschland - on June 02, 2025, around 5:25 p.m., a tragic traffic accident occurred on the L05 between Wittenburg and Lehsen. A 61-year-old van driver came off the road for previously unknown reasons and crashed into a street tree. The impact was so violent that the driver was caught in his vehicle and despite immediate rescue measures, died at the scene of the accident.

The volunteer fire brigade had to move to the liberation of the victim. The badly damaged transport vehicle was no longer ready to drive and was recovered by a towing service. Due to expired operating materials, a special company was commissioned to clean the accident site. The L05 remained closed for about four hours, which led to considerable traffic disruptions. The property damage amounts to around 50,000 euros. Investigations into the cause of the accident were taken up by the criminal police.
