Tragedy in the Marienkrankenhaus: three dead with a devastating fire!

In the night of May 31 to June 1, 2025, a devastating fire broke out in the Marienkrankenhaus in Hamburg. According to reports from T-Online, three people were killed, while over 50 more were injured. Among the injured are two people in mortal danger, 16 are seriously injured and 36 could be treated with minor injuries. The fire broke out on the ground floor of the geriatric department and quickly spread to the first floor.

The fire brigade was alerted at 0:30 a.m. and moved in with a large contingent. Emergency services saved several affected people over windows, while a room from the clinic apparently burned out completely. The fire could be deleted in the early morning, but the cause of the fire has so far been unclear. Investigations were initiated immediately to clarify the reasons for the outbreak of fire. Parts of the clinic were evacuated to ensure the safety of the patients, as well as the Tagesschau reported.

The Marienkrankenhaus is one of the largest denominational hospitals in northern Germany and has around 600 beds. The facility treats around 93,000 patients annually.
