Environmental scandal in the Schierstein port: Discover paint pollution!

In the Schiersteiner port in Wiesbaden, an alarming contamination of the water was found around noon on June 2, 2025. The fire brigade and water protection police quickly became active when striking traces were visible on the water surface. The investigation quickly led to the alleged cause, a 64-year-old man from the district of Offenbach, who let the lacquer left to get into the water when his sports boat was painted.

The consequences are serious: the area was cordoned off with an oil barrier that was about 100 meters long, while the fire brigade and the responsible lower water authority were informed about the incident. The water protection police have initiated an investigation on suspicion of an environmental impact. In the meantime, the man can no longer delete his boat in this way to prevent further damage.
