Waldbrand exercise in Lüchow-Dannenberg: Fire brigade fights against flames!

Müggenburg, Deutschland - Last Saturday, May 31, the region around Müggenburg experienced a dramatic forest fire scenario that mobilized the Lüchow-Dannenberg district fire brigade. In bright sunshine and 25 degrees Celsius, the fire brigade's 3rd move was sent in use with four tank fire vehicles to combat a broken forest fire. Train guide Markus Konau used three vehicles in the forest, while the fourth vehicle set up a bolt position on the forest border in order to prevent the flames from being attacked to adjacent grain fields.

The situation escalated when one of the tank fire engines reported that "spot fire threatened the emergency services through sparks". In a quick decision, Konau ordered the withdrawal of the vehicles. Fortunately, thanks to two strong water sources, the fire could be quickly brought under control, and after about two hours "fire went out!" given. After the exercise, the emergency services gathered in the freshly opened fire station for debriefing, where the realistic exercise received a lot of praise. Despite smaller communication bottlenecks, caused by the first use of Krad detectors, it can be seen that the fire brigade's respiratory protection training is willing to cope with these challenges in future missions.
