Train exercise of the Mechernich fire brigade: rescue skills in action!

On Saturday, May 17th, 2025, the fire truck 2 of the volunteer fire brigade city of Mechernich carried out an exciting exercise on the site of the Metallbau Schorn in Bergbuir. In this second train exercise of the year, the focus was on technical assistance in a traffic accident. Under the direction of the train leaders Gerd Geller and Michael Züll, the participants were divided into two groups and went through intensive 30-minute training intervals.

The firefighters received a refresh on topics such as accident prevention regulations, rescue methods and the handling of rescue equipment. At the end of the exercise, all "injured" could be successfully freed and handed over to the emergency services. After the practical exercise, the process was reflected in a debriefing - an important element to learn from every exercise.
