Peaceful encounter: Police praised smooth football day in Hanover

On Sunday, June 1, 2025, the second leg of the promotion relegation to the 3rd division between TSV Havelse and 1. FC Lok Leipzig was calmer than expected. Despite a large police presence that was mobilized to ensure security, there was no special occurrences related to the sporting event. Hanover Police Directorate was on site with numerous emergency services to protect the fans and to realize a smooth process.

During the game there was a peaceful meeting with around 100 participants in Garbsen. This started at 12:45 p.m. and also ended around 2:20 p.m. without disturbances. But towards the end of the meeting, a former participant caused excitement when he showed the Hitler salute several times. The police intervened immediately and initiated an investigation against the man because of the use of indicators of unconstitutional organizations. Police director Markus Kiel praised the prudent behavior of the fans and the successful implementation of the operational concept.
