A 20-year-old Moldovan citizen was rejected by the Federal Police at the Neuchâtel-Autobahn border crossing to France after having been illegally in the Schengen area for over 50 days. During a check on Monday evening, the young man showed a passport, the last entry stamp of which was dated to mid -January 2025. He could not present a residence permit or visa for a long -term stay.

The police also discovered a photo of a Romanian identity card on his smartphone, on which his data was depicted, even though he admitted not to be a Romanian citizen. Criminal proceedings for violations of the Residence Act and the presentation of false cards were initiated against him. The public prosecutor ordered a security deposit of 500 euros and the photo of the identity card was deleted. After completing the measures, the man was sent to France immediately.
