Hamburg's customs takes stock: record income and fight against smuggling!

Hamburg, Deutschland - The Hamburg customs authorities take an impressive balance for 2024: a total of 28 billion euros flowed into the federal budget and the EU, which makes the Hanseatic city one of the lowest -level customs offices in Germany. "These numbers underline the enormous importance of Hamburg as a business location," emphasizes a spokesman for the main customs office. Over 543,000 controls were carried out at Hamburg Airport to significantly reduce illegal trade in drugs and illegal medicines.

In addition, the Hamburg customs investigators report alarming figures in the fight against the smuggling: over 128 million cigarettes were ensured, which prevented tax damage from over 34 million euros. "We do everything we can to identify cross -border perpetrators and to combat illegal trade," explains the head of the customs investigation office. The main smuggling route for cocaine remains the sea path, which illustrates the continued challenge for the security authorities.
