Illegal workers on construction site: Customs reveals undeclared work in Neuenstein!

On May 26, 2025, eight workers who worked without a valid residence permit or work permit in Germany were found on a construction site in Neuenstein-Salzberg. The men, including two Georgians, four Belarussians and two Ukrainians between the ages of 26 and 48, carried out tar work for fiber optic lettings and worked as subcontractors.

Contrary to the first information, two of the workers had ID documents, but they were in their accommodation. The subsequent review showed that the boss who brought the documents also had no valid papers. All those affected only had a work permit for Poles, which they did not entitle them to work in Germany. A criminal complaint was initiated and the ID documents were handed over to the immigration office for further processing. Despite the circumstances, the workers were allowed to complete the tar work already started with the permission of customs.
