Young police officers promote democracy: impressive encounter with contemporary witnesses
In a moving moment at the Lower Saxony Police Academy in Oldenburg, around 200 students and employees gathered to listen to one of the last Holocaust time features, Albrecht Weinberg. This urgent encounter was organized by the police students themselves and took place as part of the "Police Protection for Democracy" initiative. The plenum fell silent when the vineyard entered the room and shared its experiences, which produced a deeply respectful presence among those present.
Student Johannes Ahlers, co -organizer of the event, emphasized the importance of such encounters for the understanding of humanity in the police service: "Democracy education begins in the studies." This initiative, which has existed since November 2019, aims to promote democratic values within the police and to strengthen their resilience against extremist currents by entering into close cooperation with civil society partners. The response to this project shows how a cross -generational examination of the past and today's responsibility can shape police work.
