Cellar fire in Bottrop: Six people saved by smoke!
On Monday afternoon, a fire broke out in the basement of an apartment building on Birkenstrasse at 3:56 p.m. Around 30 firefighters from the professional fire brigade and volunteer fire brigade Fuhlenbrock were quickly on site. Six people saved themselves through the smoky staircase and were examined by the emergency services for possible flue gas poisoning.
A fire brigade team went into the basement with respiratory protection to extinguish the fire. In order to prevent the fire smoke from spreading in the stairwell, a smoke protection curtain was used. In addition, another team checked the staircase and the apartments. During the extinguishing work, the old town volunteer fire brigade took over the basic protection for the city. The police have started the cause of the fire.
