Kitchen fire in Düren: a person injured, apartment uninhabitable!

This evening, around 8:30 p.m., a devastating kitchen fire broke out in an apartment building in Düren. The fire brigade was alerted as a thick black smoke came out of a patio door on the third floor. Fortunately, there were no more people in the apartment at this point. The emergency services were able to quickly penetrate the apartment and found that the fire had only limited itself to the kitchen.

Thanks to the rapid reaction of the tenant, who closed the kitchen door in good time, the toxic smoke was largely limited to this area. In this way, the rescuers were able to quickly control and extinguish the fire. Nevertheless, the fire led to considerable damage, so that the apartment is now uninhabitable. One person was taken to the hospital to treat a suspected flue gas poisoning.
