Truck accident at the level crossing in Gersfeld: driver and witness shocked!

This morning, June 12th, there was a dramatic incident at the unrestricted level crossing in Gersfeld at 8:40 a.m. A truck that wanted to unload steel plates for a preliminary construction road collided with a train from the Hessische Landesbahn (HLB). The train driver noticed the danger in good time, gave a reference whistle and initiated a quick braking, but could not prevent the impact.

The 44-year-old truck driver suffered a shock in the accident and had to be brought to the Fulda Clinic to treat. A shocked witness was also accompanied home by an ambulance. The Federal Police Inspection Kassel has taken the investigation and initiated criminal proceedings for dangerous intervention in rail traffic.
