New boss in Friedland: Ullrich Björn Ritzau heads the police station!
The Friedland police station has a new boss! Ullrich Björn Ritzau, who has been doing his service there for six months, succeeds Jörk Grote, who headed the station from April 2022 to May 2023. Police director Marco Hansmann officially presented Ritzau on May 28, 2025 and emphasized the importance of continuity in the management of the office.
Ritzau, 49 years old and father of four children, has over 30 years of experience in the police enforcement service. His former career comprises stations in the Hundreds of Göttingen and in leading positions of the operations and patrol services. "I see this task as a highlight of my career and I am determined to strengthen the feeling of security of the citizens," said Ritzau. He announced that he was closely working with community representatives and institutions, especially with regard to the Friedland border crossing camp, which plays a central role for many people on the run.
