Cyclists in the track area: Federal Police prevents worse in Stralsund!

On Thursday, June 12, 2025, there was a troubling incident on the railway line between Sassnitz and Lietzow when a regional express had to initiate a danger braking due to two cyclists. Fortunately, nobody was injured and there was no damage to property. Deutsche Bahn alerted the federal police after the cyclists apparently acted in the track area and even parked one of their e-bikes there.

The incoming federal police officers were able to quickly lead the 62-year-old woman and the 58-year-old man from Lower Saxony out of the danger area. Criminal proceedings were initiated against both for dangerous intervention in rail traffic. The federal police urgently warns of the lifetry in the track area: trains can rase almost silently and the suction effect can even lead to fatal accidents. Safety should always be in the first place!
