On Wednesday, June 11, 2025, a serious accident occurred in Straelen-Hetzert. An 82-year-old man from Grevenbroich crashed with his pedelec while he was traveling with a group of cyclists. The incident happened around 1:20 p.m. in the Wachtendonker Straße/Niersstraße intersection, and the exact circumstances are still unclear. However, a participation of other people is excluded.

The fall led to serious head injuries of the man, who was then flown to a clinic in Krefeld with a rescue helicopter. Fortunately, it was reported that there was no danger to life at this time.
