On May 27, 2025, Gera had a dramatic police operation in Plauenschen Strasse when a neighbor reported that a 74-year-old in his apartment rioted. The police and the emergency services started immediately because a danger to the residents could not be excluded. When she arrived, it turned out that the old man stepped onto the officials with a knife. Despite the use of irritant gas, he retired to his apartment and locked the door.

It was only around 11:20 a.m. that the emergency services managed to overpower the aggressive and alcoholic man with simple physical violence, which could be banned. The 74-year-old suffered minor injuries and was handed over to medical treatment. It is currently being examined whether he was in an exceptional psychological situation. Fortunately, no other people were injured.
