A serious motorcycle accident shook the K40 between Jettchenshof and Malchin on May 29, 2025 around 2:00 p.m. A 20-year-old biker was on her KTM with his 19-year-old passenger when she collided from the street and collided with a traffic sign for reasons that have so far been unexplained. The driver suffered serious injuries and had to be admitted to the Dietrich-Bonhoeffer Clinic in Neubrandenburg with a rescue helicopter. His passenger suffered minor injuries and was transported to the Teterow hospital.

The K40 had to be completely blocked due to the accident, which led to significant traffic disruptions. The property damage amounts to around 2000 euros. The police's investigation into the exact cause of the accident are underway. All people involved are of German origin.
