In the night of June 8, 2025 at 1:30 a.m., the Federal Police Inspection Rostock was informed about a dangerous incident on the Bützow - Schwaan railway line. Unknown perpetrators put gravel stones on the tracks, which led to a significant damage to the RE 4321, which ran over the objects. The train was then no longer ready to drive, so the travelers at the Schwaan train station had to switch to an alternative train.

The first investigations show that at the time of the crime, four people in black were on a nearby bridge. Despite an immediately initiated search, the search for the suspects was unsuccessful. Due to the necessary police measures, the railway line was closed from 1:52 a.m. to 3:03 a.m.
