Shock accident in Mannheim: 13-year-old from tram!

On Saturday evening there was a serious traffic accident in Mannheim, in which a 13-year-old boy was hit by a tram. The incident occurred around 9:15 p.m. when the boy, while he was busy with his cell phone and was wearing headphones, wanted to cross Friedrich-Ebert-Strasse. Inattentive he overlooked the warning signal of the approaching path and was recorded on the arm, which led to an impact against a mast and seriously injured it.

The boy was immediately admitted to a nearby clinic. Fortunately, his injuries are not life -threatening. The tram that was traveling towards the city center caused property damage of around 7,500 euros. The left lanes of Friedrich-Ebert-Straße were closed during the accident recording, which led to significant traffic disruptions. To help the passengers, the rail operator set up a taxi substitute.
