Serious accident on A 61: 83-year-old does not know how to proceed!

On Friday morning it crashed on the A 61 between Speyer and Hockenheim in a dramatic traffic accident! An 83-year-old man lost control of his Mazda for an unknown cause and opened a tractor-trailer in front. In the violent impact, both the driver and the 81-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries. The passenger had to be flown to a clinic with a rescue helicopter while the driver was transported to the hospital with an ambulance. Fortunately, the 58-year-old driver of the tractorizer was not injured.

The A 61 was completely closed during the rescue measures towards Hockenheim, which led to an enormous traffic jam of up to 5 kilometers. The left lane could only be released shortly after 8 a.m., while the right lane and the hard shoulder remained blocked. The emergency services were quickly on site to provide the two injuries and secure the scene of the accident. The circumstances of the accident are still unclear and the subject of further investigations.
